On behalf of Oxfam Italia, LAMA has visited the Palestinian refugee camp of Wavel (Baalbeck), in Lebanon, to provide consultancy on an educational project. The local partner, the organization “Children of Al Jalil”, designed a workshop on new media as a tool for self-expression and self-narration; the project’s final aim was to reduce the school drop-out rate in the camp.
Through practical workshops and a learning-by-doing approach, the participants have been introduced to several multimedia and web tools through which they can express their experiences and personal perspective.
LAMA assisted “Children of Al Jalil” in involving the young community in the project, and to give the course a vocational education and training dimension. After completing the course, the participants are involved in further activities as instructors, so that they employ the newly acquired skills to help their peers.
